Elk Hunting on Mt. Spokane and Mica Peak
« on: October 30, 2010, 09:54:35 PM »
I went elk hunting today on mica peak and it was definately combat hunting except no one was shooting. I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on hunting mica peak. I am hopefully going again on thursday. Also, are their any elk on Mt. Spokane. Would it be better to go thier than mica peak? and if so, would you go to the east side towards spirit lake. Thanks for the help, its my first year and I have been doing pretty good 1 turkey and 1 buck, just want to add 1 elk if possible. And Yes I do know it will be more luck than anything.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

There are elk up on spokane but I think there are a lot of people that hunt it also. I know there was a herd in the fields by mt Spokane high school last week and another herd that comes down by houser lake into the fields across trent. I think those stay some where towards mt Spokane but not sure where exactly. At least I have not been able to track them down on the Idaho side.

The two areas mentioned you would be lucky to get permission to even take pictures on their land let alone hunt. There is elk but its a lot of luck if you're not familiar with the area

It's a tough place to hunt, that's for sure.  Lots of pressure.  Congratulations on the deer and turkey for your first year.  I'd say stop while you are ahead.
