Blacktail Spike Down!! (pics)
« on: November 22, 2010, 08:05:47 AM »
Well after we spent several days Deer Hunting very hard and only seen a few does and went Elk Hunting and seen a couple cows and a few big blacktail bucks in the Winston Creek Unit and never got anything...
Spent every weekend up in Vail Tree Farm and never seen any bucks except for a small button head that we passed on. So I had to work Sunday (taxi driver) and it snowed overnight in Yelm. I came home to make lunch and went next door before I went back to work and *censored* there were deer all over the place. 2 button heads 7 does a very small 2 point and twin fawns from this year.
I went over there without my rifle cause I was in the taxi. So I called my brother and told him to meet me outside with my rifle. I jump into his car and we go back over there park and put our vests on walk down the road and the 2 point is gone we look around walk behind the abandoned house nothing. We seen the fawns and 3 does... Start walking back to the car and it's 4:15pm out of the corner of my eye this small spike starts walking right towards us. I could have roped him and tied him down. He was within 20 feet of us and started running broadside when he knew we were people. Shot him in the neck just below the head and he dropped at 60 feet.
We hung him in the garage on the scale dressed 80 lbs.

(Sorry for the poor quality of the pics they were taken with my stright talk phone camera)
