Anybody ordered JUST a barrel from Remington?
« on: February 02, 2011, 01:39:49 PM »
I am looking to order a more heavyweight fluted barrel wiht the TriNyte finish...

I am curious if anyone has ordered parts/barrels/etc from Remington before?

I ordered a replacement mag latch for my model 710 from them once. Overall experience was good but the shipping was more than the $3 part and it seemed to take forever to get, although i think it was a back ordered part.

Why would you want to order a new barrel from Rem when ther are so many good barrel makers around?  You will still have to have it installed by a gunsmith.  If you really want a factory barrel id look into shipping it back to rem for the replacement.  I have barrels from PacNOR, ER Shaw and a Adams and Bennett from Midway(cheap. Fouls, but shoots pretty good as good as a factory barrel but a crap shoot).  Depending on the caliber you looking for there are a lot of factory take offs I just put an LVSF 22-250 barrel on my Rem 722.  Any question PM me

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Well, in any other situation, you would be absolutely correct.. If I could, and I can.. I would put a Hartt barrel on. BUT.. what I am looking for is something a bit more proprietary to Remington and that is their TriNyte coating. I have an XCR II and I love the TriNyte coating that they offer. I am curious as what the cost would be to get a barrel that is just a bit heavier, fluted and with the TriNyte coating. I think a barrel from their Sendero line would be pretty killer.

But to tell you the truth... I should probably just keep it as is.. I get MOA groups out of this rifle.
