Firearm noise suppressors HB 1016 passed today
« on: February 07, 2011, 07:08:04 PM »
Just learned the silencer bill passed here in Washington.
Now (or in 90 days) I can pop off rounds from the chicken coop with out bothering the layers or stampeding the horses out of the pasture..
coyotes have been traipsing thru the end of the pasture unmolested...
Wonder how they effect accuracy?
Could 'own' a silencer for a $200 -TAX- and a back ground check prior to this but was not allowed to use it.

 HB 1016
Brief Summary of Bill
Allows the use of a contrivance or device for suppressing the noise of a
firearm if the suppressor is legally registered and possessed under federal law.
Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the
bill is passed.
Feb 7 Committee recommendations adopted.
     Placed on third reading.
Third reading, passed; yeas, 88; nays, 4; absent, 0; excused, 6

Good first post Robert.
Keep us posted on this.
I've never seen one in use but I have looked at the videos on youtube and it looks like a nice way to shoot without excessive noise.
I also know a few raccoons that would love to hear less noise as they receive a fast-flying message from me about staying away from my chickens.

Would the WDFW have any intention of allowing it's use for hunting?  Would there be a process to try to have them allow suppressors?

I am so getting one now!

Great first post.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

They are fun, but heavy and real dirty after much use.  I've used them extensively on M4's and MP5's.  I will not be buying or using one for personal use, just not worth the price nor the hassle for me.  They can be a great application tool for sure, and bet a lot of folks will enjoy having and using them!

I heard you need sub-sonic ammo for them to actually be "silenced". Is there any truth to that?
