PRIVATE PROPERTY HUNT AVAILABLE
« on: August 31, 2011, 05:26:56 AM »
Hey All,

My hunting party is losing a couple shooters this year and we're looking to fill the spots.  This is a private property hunt for 2 shooters north of Davenport for the modern firearm deer season this year.  The catch though is are party does parent/ kid hunts and if you were to come camp rule is kids shoot 1st.  So all party's hunt on their own but your kid pulls the trigger 1st not the parent.  Once an animal is down we all come together to help each other out so everyone is always involved.  There are 8 shooters only and it's a farm with canyons we hunt around 3000-4000 thousand acers or so.  We camp on the farm so you could bring your camper/tent/trailer or motorhome.  You would be welcome to bring the entire family if you want but this is for 2 shooters only.  The cost is split between each shooter and is about 1/3 -1/2 what a guide would charge for just a drop hunt let alone a guided hunt.  You will see plenty of deer, Mule deer herds of 20 deer are not uncommon.  We have taken 22 deer over the past 3 years so the odds are pretty good. Mule deer are 3 point or better and Whitetail are also 3 point or better except for kids then its antlerless or 3 pt.  This is a very safe and fun hunt especially for the kids.  Our boys are 14, 13 and 11 so we're looking for kids in the same age range.  Don't come looking for huge trophy's although there are deer in the 130 - 140 range both mule and whitetail.  The farmer grows winter wheat and the deer seem to love it.  Also bring your quad if you have one.  IF you meet these requirements and are interested email me and I'll give you more info.  If you'd like some photos let me know and I can email them, can't figure out how to minimize the photos or make smaller or what ever you're supposed to do.  Hope to hear from some of you, this is one of the best blog sites I've seen and know most everyone are really great people and dedicated to our sport.  Take care and keep your powder dry.

That's an awesome opportunity you're putting out there.  Had a chance last year to hunt that exact same area on private land with winter wheat and canyons that didn't work out so well, but absolutely not due to the area. There were tons of deer both mulies and whities. I would love to go back for another try but my daughter is still a bit too young I think at 9 years old. She wants to go with me every year, I think next year might be the year for her. She is still a bit timid when it comes to shooting a bigger rifle.

Hey everyone, its a great opprotunity for the money. The land out there is unbelievable for deer. If you have the chance take him up on the offer.....don't hesitate. I know I wish I could.   ;) ;) ;) ;) I , might just go back to the small pieces of public land around there just to get close to those farms with the winter wheat.... :chuckle:

Hey All, We got these spots filled and I'm sure Ed and John are going to have a great hunt.  Sorry it didn't work Eric but make sure to keep my info and let me know when your young ones are ready to go and we'll get them their 1st deer.  Thanks again to everyone who responded and to all good luck this year and "Keep your powder dry"!
