Mudflow Cow sucks.

Not a meat tag.  A pain in the a$$ tag.  All bulls in your face and few cows to be found.  The bull tag is the meat tag as we would set up and make a few cow calls and have bulls on us in no time.  Decided to not call and set up on game trails.  We would see lots of bulls and some with just a few cows, but were having trouble getting to them on the steep side of the unit.  The heat has been keeping them on the bottom at night and up in the timber during the day. We pulled one cow out yesterday at first light, but had to wrap up the hunt today.  Hopefully the conditions will be better next weekend or hunt for bulls in a different unit.

I think the count is backwards in that unit or the bulls ran them out.  The bulls were screaming.

Maybe the herd bulls have all the cows somewhere away from all the little bulls, and you just weren't in the right area. There has to be more cows somewhere.

Enjoy the hunt.  What I would give to see too many bulls.  Stick with it...you will get your cow.  While you're at it...enjoy the bulls.  They're why we're out here!

give it time , not all permits are designed for harvest. most are just for revinue.    good luck and prove them wrong.

Ran into the same thing in the margret.  Had fun calling in a 5x5 within 15 yards and watching a couple bulls locking horns at 40 yards.  Go figure with a cow tag I couldn't get closer than a mile away from a cow.  I do believe you will have a shot at cows in December when they are all hanging out in the bottom.  Don't lose faith, ur probably just frustrated.

It would be a money tag if they gave you a late season as well.  It is only good until the 18th of Sept.  We had bulls as close as 8 feet.  I had a pair locked up at 15 yards and were dusting us out.  It was crazy bull action.  The stuff that makes you go crazy when you only have a cow tag in your pocket.  I may go back in with a good camera or video and get some footage.  We could see cows in the distance, but good luck getting to them or out on the south side unless you go in for the night. They were several thousand feet below.

had the tag last year. like you said bulls in your face every day. cows are far few between.this time of year.i had only one shot at a cow and blew it . had bulls at 10 yards . good luck.
