Project game hoist

Well I have been busy as heck working on getting stuff in line for the rest of my seasons. Plus I have had a few bow hunting clients so I have been very busy. I told myself its now or never to build my game hoist I have been wanting for years. I have a few nice setups at camp at around home but always wanted one for my hitch. Plus with us going to wy this year I wanted to have one for our hunt out there. I built this as beefy as I could to make sure it could lift just about anything I want to load or skin. The main frame is 2x2x1/4 and then some chunks of 1x1x1/8 for the frames of the rollers. I beefed up the top one by welding extra 1/2 plates on the back of each roller frame. My winch is a 800lb boat winch with a 2" strap. I then added 3 boat strap rollers to the frame and man let me tell you, its smooth as glass to crank. I made it long enough to load a critter in the back with the tailgate down. Or you can shove it up into the hitch for more support. I had to test it out so I hooked it up to my generator I had at the shop which is right at 400lbs and cranked it right up. I also triple welded the frame on the corners to make sure it would hold up well. Put in a few late night to get it done but it turned out great! Just wanted to share.

Very nice work Carp.
The weak points won't be your welds but at the roller pins. Don't know what that stuff is rated for,but with northamerican game animals you should be fine.
Especially with the little ones you shoot

to funny. Yeah I just used standard grade bolts for the lower 2 rollers that won't have a whole bunch of weight on them. Then used a high grade gold bolt for the top roller. I made them so I could replace the rollers if they ware out.

If you kill as many animals as me, you would have to replace those bolts because of rust not wear. (if you know what I mean).

  I have already shot 7 big game animals this year I think it will be because of ware I have got 9 more to go if things work out right

On the plus side, with this I can lift those small animals I shoot up off the ground, to wipe the milk from there lips

Could you put a  "hinge" at the top (or bottom), to swing them into the bed??? That would be cool

Yeah I Thought about that. I really thought about it. I think I can get them high enough to push them over and lower the hoist down and drop them on the tail gate. I will test it out on some lopes here in a few weeks. Even though I can shot put them into the back

Thanks guys Also if anyone is wondering a build cost it was right at 100.00 total: 55.00 for steel/5.00 for bolts/25.00 for winch and 15.00 for the rollers.
