Not all Sierra Gameking BTSPs are created equal. The 180gr .308 has a tapered jacket designed for use in magnum cartridges. I am pretty sure the 165gr doesn't have a tapered jacket but my old manual isn't handy at the moment.

Most of the bears I have killed have fallen to a speer hot core, which is as close to the game king as anything. I have never shot twice or lost a bear. Seems to work.

does anyone shoot Hornaday Bullets besides me ?  :dunno: sounds like I am always ignored when I talk about them but if you want bone crushing power and watch sheet hit the dirt then you best give them a try ....I shoot nothen but hornadays but they have always worked for me at all ranges and I cant see changing now  :chuckle: :dunno:

I'm a hardcore Nosler guy, have been for 25 years but my back up bullets has always been Hornady Interlocks. Almost as accurate and out of most Remington 700's in the same weight and caliber with the same powder charge they almost hold the same point of impact as the Noslers. I only use 300gr Hornady BTSP in my Rem700 classic in .375 H&H and it has flat leveled ever bear and elk I have shot with it.

A friend of mine killed the Current SCI world record California sheep with a 150gr Hornady Interlock.

I've heard mostly good things about the GameKing for animals.  I haven't tried any yet.  I have been using the Interlocks like a few others here, good performance. But the main reason why I haven't tried the GameKing is I don't recall them being cannelured.  I like to put a good roll crimp and that keeps me shooting certain rounds on the range not the field (nosler/barnes/sierra).

JimmmyHoffa, You are right about no cannelure.  at least the 180 grain GKs I've been loading for 300 WM are smooth jacketed.  Not 100% sure on the 165s.  I've yet to use them on game but they sure do a nice job punching paper with nice tight groups.
