All it did was concentrate the few local birds that are still living in the yakima Valley, which isn't much but it was enough for 14 ducks yesterday and today for my friend and i.

That sounds a little more like what we've been dealing with. Seems like the birds are there then gone and no rhyme nor reason to it. Forecast is calling for showers this Sunday and some next week  I sure hope it gets those birds movin in off of the big water! My step dad said there were thousands of mallards pinnies and widgeon on the big water yesterday! Just where I like to be on a bluebird day! :chuckle: :bash: of course I was in the blind and had a very slow morning! I hope this precipitation gets em lookin for cover inland! :dunno:
What would life be without the thrill of the hunt?

I'm hunting a small lake on the westside south of Tacoma which has been frozen over.  I'm hoping it will warm up a bit to open it back up so some birds will move back in.  Until then, I'm sure they're out on the big water, which I don't have a way to hunt.   I bet the Columbia is a turkey shoot right now.

Try breaking some ice and clear a place for the ducks to be.

A rake works well to move ice and shove the ice under its self.

Yeah, I already tried that, but it appears the birds moved out of the area.
