Here's a question. Can you successfully raddle in blacktails? Iv had good luck in Texas and upstate New York with whitetails but have never tryed blacktails.

Yup.  Lots of threads on here about it.  Do a search and you'll see a ton of info.

Very first time I ever tried rattling, I was tucked into a treeline looking over a thick clear cut. I rattle for a bit and think nothing is coming.

I turn around and there are three blacktails behind me, staring, just up hill about 30 feet. This being my first year bow hunting. Two does and a buck. Buck is in the center and does on either side. The buck has antlers that come up and branch, but he is standing between two trees, so just his head and chest are visible. But he has a good rack from what I can tell.

I notched an arrow and let it fly (no range finder). I hit a log that was laying on the ground in front of him....it was a dead on shot as far as left and right go, just low by a few inches (I was down hill a bit...kind of steep). I was able to notch another and let it fling, hit the tree next to him. Then they bolted. :chuckle:
