Catfishing this weekend?
« on: June 29, 2012, 08:29:59 AM »
My dad and I are thinking of sneaking out this weekend down south and chasing some catfish and bass. I was thinking of heading down to the snake. Anyone been doing any good fishing down there yet. I know I can get into the smallmouths. Any info would be great on catfish. We will have our 17' Colman canoe with us.

Thanks
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Check out the last 10 or so pages on this thread...oh and take a .22 for the boat, you might just need it.  :)

We went fishing Friday and Saturday at the Palouse River last weekend.  Wind was a pain on Friday and we couldn't even get our hand made anchor my dad made at work, since he forgot the anchor at home before he left to come to my place to fish.  Saturday we caught 6 catfish, could've caught more Saturday morning but we ran out of squawfish and had to get more in the afternoon and caught 2 more in the evening.  Just go up in 2-3 feet of water and catch some squawfish for bait.  Cut it up and throw it out with a bobber a foot or two under the bobber or just throw it out with a weight.  I saw  some people with up to 20 fish.  I'm not sure how great a canoe would be in the wind and waves that come with it.
