Winston Cow
« on: June 08, 2012, 05:40:50 PM »
My 10 year old daughter drew the Winston cow tag Jan 1-16th.  She shot a turkey this season and thought that was big, wait til she puts the scope on that cow.  I am just excited to be out in a lower pressure situation to enjoy the hunt.  We had a great time during the youth turkey weekend without all of the pressure, hopefully this hunt will more of the same.

This will be a great hunt for her..   there are cow elk everywhere in the unit.  IF she can shoot 250 yards, she can knock one down, easy enough.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Nice, my 8 year old daughter drew the same tag!  It'll be a walk in the park man for your daughter.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Good luck to your girls. I drew the same tag. I'm excited that I now get to hunt in Nov. and Jan. Should be a good hunt.

I drew also.   I hope I fill my tag in sept.   I have some experience in the Winston, but I try to stay away from the zoo in general season.   Got the muti so I thought I would put in for something different.   Curious as to what is the most successful way to fill this tag that time of year.   Are all of the gates open that time of year, eg Longbell?  Good luck to the girls, better them then me.

Checked the mail today and didn't get her tag yet but we did get the postcard saying the WDFW was working with Weyerhauser again this year to provide access to the St Helen's tree farm.  My wife and I had Toutle muzzy cow tags last year and got the same postcard.  We also got the organ sample kit that they requested we turn in certain organs for testing.  My guess is that kit will come again this year for my daughters hunt.  This should keep her excited for the hunt and practicing.  Can't wait to get out there and get after them.  Going to be an early New Year's Eve so we can hit it first thing on January 1st.
