Shooting sticks?

Looking at shooting sticks. Primos triger sticks in bi-pod look good but are $100. Are they worth the money, suggestions? What do you use and what works best for your situations. Using for bear gun, so i will be calling and making long hikes in to nowhere land.

I have the primos trigger stick and absolutely love it!!! Its very sturdy and makes a pretty good walking stick when going long distances. I think its well worth the money if you are looking for a good trigger stick

2 bamboo poles $5 at craft store
1 strip of leather $2 at craft store
2 bungee cords $5 at auto parts store

-Cut bamboo in sections that you deem acceptable
-where the cuts were made, use a file to make sockets.  Hollow just a bit of the inside of one end and the outside of the joining one so they join together like a socket
-drill holes through the joints in the bamboo so the cord can go through the poles
-feed bungee cord through the bamboo and pull just a bit taught and tie knots in the ends
-use the leather strip to tie together near the top.

Cutting the poles and running bungee through it lets you break it down and put it in your pack but, if you pulled the bungee tight enough (not too tight) it'll let the poles pop right into shape when you need them

I have trigger sticks, stoney point, and bi-pods.    Stoney Point collects dust, and deservedly so.......I feel their mount system is inferior and inadequate.

I have thre sets of shooting sticks that always look good when I leave them in the truck.   I never seem to have a set handy when I need them.

so, I gave up and mounted a bi-pod on the rifle.

that works much better for me, because I can't leave it behind or fumble around wishing it was handy when I need it.

I found and old camera tri pod at the good will paid 20 bucks for it.

Stoney Point collapsible here as well. Killed coyotes, deer and elk off of them. The only issue I have with them is sometimes you go to reposition and if it sticks well enough in the ground you may pull the links apart.

But for portability and weight.. can't beat it.

stoney point all the way. Feels rock solid for me shooting of sticks compared to a knee.

I've got two sets of home made, and one of the original trigger sticks. 

I took two camo Easton XX75 aluminum arrows, (I switched to carbons so they were useless to me), used 4" of shrink tubing over the tip end, and put three green castration bands around them to hold them together.  They work fine, don't weigh hardly anything, and if I lose them, I'm out almost nothing. 

The trigger stick works, but it "bleeds off" with a rifle on it.  So if you are doing a lot of shooting, (sage rats, rock chucks, etc.), you have to keep adjusting it.
