Lots of previous threads on this. Ripped off.......if someone finds it and not secured the odds are good.

I just bought a Moultrie M-80XT and it's pretty sweet! I researched the crap out of them and here is what I learned:

1) Buy the bear box, cable and lock!
2) They are ALL hit and miss, every manufacturer, so I recommend buying local for easy returns and opting for extended protection if available (cheap insurance)!
3) Test it in your backyard at least twice both day and evening before you place it in the woods! It seems the bad ones crap out almost immediately!
4) Out of the box check the manufacturers website for updates?
5) Use the lithium batteries.
6) Don't cheap out on the SD card and be sure your camera can handle the gb?!
7) Enjoy!! I will be placing mine this weekend!

Hope that helps!

I'd buy some Moultrie D-50's.  They're cheap ($50) and are still one of the best overall cameras I have.  Personally, I'm liking the flash better all the time over the infared.  Too many pics at distances that aren't able to be made out clearly.  8 D bartteries kinda suck, but for $50 you won't be disappointed.  As for them getting stolen........that's up to where you're hanging them.  Don't trust anybody these days. :twocents:
