My first trail cam critter ever!

Finally got something on my new trail cam I moved it after the first soak because I've seen chipmunks before

Totally hooked now! Repositioned it, refreshed the area and will check it again in 2 weeks

I need to work a bit more on set up and location choices, but I'm excited! Made some adjustments to the settings too, it wasn't taking night pics at all?? Too many options on this cam, I think my next one, two or three will be cheaper models...

Are you sure it wasn't taking pictures at night, or was it just that the animals were only there during the day? I know I have been getting very few pictures at night (if any). I know from last year that starting in late August or early September that will change, and the majority of my pictures will be at night.

That could be? While I was reading the owner's manual AGAIN, it has a feature called "Plot Mode" and that was set to 3 hours from the factory...apparently that means it only functions for 3 hours in the evening and 3 hours in the morning to conserve battery?? I changed the settings and it will be interesting to see if anything changes this soak??

mine takes night pics, but I was lucky and seen that feature before I set it up so I got 24 hour pics

Not sure...it's in an area where it's a possibility but I'm pretty sure he's a muley. Didn't get a good shot of his hind end or legs due to the camera angle...hopefully he comes back!

I reccomend you don't use the "PLOT" mode, set it to trail cam mode for traditional motion activated trail camera

The plot mode is not meant for watching trails, it's for open areas like fields and clearcuts where the animals aren't going to be close enough to trigger the camera. You need a special program on your computer in order to go through the pictures faster.

You may find, as I have, that travel patterns change with the seasons.  Last year at this time, my once hot spot went dead cold.  Not even a mouse track!  So I took my camera down, and when I went to put it back this spring, I found that the deer had used the branches right around where i had the camera to rub their antlers!  Same thing this year--I just checked the camera, and no pics, and no tracks on the trail.  I'm leaving the camera there longer this year!

Yep, my thought process is turning towards a string line approach, setting a few in a line along a travel area. Just because they aren't walking right in front of the one camera I have out doesn't mean they vanished! I have a good water source nearby and a large amount of sign above this camera. The beautiful thing is it's set up in an area legal for the High Buck season in September, so if I can put together a pattern through August I may have a crack at something come the opener?! It's a bit of work getting to it, but I feel it will be worth it.

Exactly... I went from one bushnell... to 3 to 6, now I run 8 reconyx lol
