If we're going to push for something nationally, it should be for constitutional (ie, permit less) carry.

Exactly! If this is passed then it further legitimizes CWP which is unconstitutional. We should be fighting against CWP not reinforcing it. We have the right to KEEP and bear arms. I can keep my pistol in my pocket in public if I choose to do so without any permits because that action is protected by the 2nd Amendment.

On another note. Is it constitutional to charge a fee for a CWP? Can the gov't charge you a fee to acquire a permit to have a demonstration? If the gov't is not allowed to charge you a fee for a large demonstration permit then it cannot charge you a fee for CWP. Does anyone know anything about this?

There are two very obvious and fiercely adamant camps regarding our Second Amendment Rights; one is pro-gun, and one is anti-gun.  We, as a group, tend to fall into the pro-gun category of citizens.

It is very important to note how those on the anti-gun side continuously try to chip away at our rights at every opportunity they have.  It seems that anti-gun legislation or anti-gun ordinances are introduced at the national, state, and local levels on a daily basis.  There is most definitely a constant barrage of attacks on our rights to own and transport firearms.  The anti-gun faction is relentlessly attacking our rights that are already Constitutional Rights, the Second Amendment.  Anti-gun groups are propaganda machines that prey on the unaware public and those that aren’t quite sure where they stand; their objective is to confuse, divide, and conquer.

We, on the pro-gun side, must take every opportunity we can to protect our rights, and to get legislation passed that gives greater assurances that our rights remain intact.  There is no single piece of legislation that will fix everything.  Our efforts need to be continuous, consistent, and unified at the national, state, and local levels.  This isn’t just about gun rights; it’s about all of our rights.  If one Amendment in our Bill of Rights (the Second Amendment) is lost or weakened, the rest of them can become easy targets.  It’s good to be free; I think I can safely say that most of us want to keep it that way.  If we expect to keep our rights and our freedoms, we must act as a united front.

The other thread concerning this said Harry Reid was supporting this bill. If that is the case, someone smarter then me needs to take a really really close look at this, and determine why Harry Reid would support gun owners rights legislation?
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

Since it would be very difficult (most likely impossible) for an individual to fully understand ALL of the political and legal wrangling that goes on regarding guns, gun ownership, gun rights, gun transportation, differences in gun laws between states, etc., we have to place our trust in organizations like the NRA, USSA, and SCI to research these things using their extensive resources, experience, and expertise.  These organizations promote legislation, and take actions that are in our best interests as a gun owners and hunters.

Politics.
