Looking for first bow.

I am looking into my first bow. I will need a left handed one. I eventually want to be able to work my way up to hunting elk with it so I want a bow I can turn the poundage up on. Any ideas or recommendations of where to start? I've only ever hunted rifle so I'm pretty new to this.

From the research I've done a lot of people have recommended this bow. I haven't gone anywhere to shot one yet. I live in the enumclaw area and am not sure of where to go to test out the Diamon Razor Edge because according to the website Cabela's is sold out.

Lucky Shot Archery in Chehalis hooked my son up with one.  Let him shoot it 3 separate times, about an hour of shooting each time before we bought it.  His price for the package was comparable to anything I saw on the internet.  It's a bit of a drive but, we were treated exceptionally.

It's a good starter package to get you shooting and familiar with the bow and how the pieces work but, soon, you'll be wanting to upgrade the various components it comes with like the quiver and sight.

No problem.  If I were you, I would make at least one stop there, and probably make it your first stop.  They are great there.  If for some reason you didn't like your experience, at least you will have shot the bow.  They are a bit difficult to find your first time.  Google maps has them in the wrong spot so call ahead and get directions.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you may not need the full adjustability of a Razors Edge.  You may in fact be stronger than you think and may be able to move right into a different bow that has a more narrow weight range but better attributes somewhere else.  I like the razors Edge for my son because he is 10 and will grow a bunch.  He saved the money himself forgoeing Christmas presents and not spending his birthday money for 2 years to get it.  I wanted him to have a bow he could conceivably shoot from the age of 10 until whenever so the adjustability of the Razors edge was great.  As an adult, you may not need all of that adjustability since a lot of bows now have a 20lb draw weight range just by turning the limb bolts

Oh, when you call for directions, make sure to ask about their selection of left handed bows.

Be forewarned: Don't think that your expenses are over once you put down big $$ for a brand new bow. Be ready to shell out more $$$ for a release, laser rangefinder, target, broadheads, and arrows, arrows, arrows!

Don't rush into buying anything until you have tryed a few bows, I started hunting with recurves back in the 70s and learned alot, once archery gets in your blood its hard to stop, weather your target praticing or hunting, its a life style, not just an activity.

Just curious why the Razors Edge with its 31 inch ATA, 7inch brace hight, 308 ibo and a dual cam, that doesn't sound that great.

Usually dual cam's have a harsher draw then 1&1/2 or single cam's.

A 31inch ata and 7 inch brace bight is not more forgiving for new shooters.

With a ibo of 308 that is less than more bows in that class.

By the way I hope your not over 6 feet tall because it only has a 29 inch draw.

The best thing I see about that bow is the price. JUST SAYING am I wrong?

adjustability. Looking to be adjusted easily and for an unknown weight range was requested.  The ability to be adjusted from 20lbs to 60lbs would fit the bill.  What if she's only 5'1 and 85lbs and has to start with a 25lb draw and work her way up to legal weight?

At that price range look for sells or maybe PSE, something with a good brace height and large ATA. With hunting season coming up you will see lots of good deals from the major chains.
