6.5X55 Swedish?
« on: August 06, 2012, 09:46:04 AM »
I picked one up on a trade over the weekend for what I thought was a pretty smokin deal. I don't know much about the cartridge. What can you guys tell me?

Your going to love it. They use it for moose in scandanavia (though most would consider it small for that purpose). It's just an all around classic cartridge like the 7x57 mauser.

The modern day .260 is pretty close in comparison (maybe a little hotter)

You are going to love this gun.  Great caliber.  Been many a animal shot with one.

I am itching to get it out and see how it does on song dogs. Thanks for the input, would love to hear anybody else's take as well.

Oh and it would make an awesome kid gun.  Recoil is very light.
That caliber is devastating on deer sized game.

Sweet, I was thinking of it as a possible kid gun, my buddy has a young son coming up this year, may have him try this instead of him buying something and have the kid not like it.

I built a swede from a Yugo M48 and I placed a Adams & Bennett light weight barrel on it.  It would not shot very good with heavy bullet because of the light weight barrel.  I hope that who ever built your swede used a better barrel.

It's not the lightweight barrel that makes heavy bullets shoot bad,  it's the rate of twist your barrel has.
