Browning X-Bolt Hunter 7mm WSM
« on: August 12, 2012, 09:20:53 AM »
Just picked up a new toy here a couple weeks ago.  Went with a Browning X-Bolt Hunter left handed in a 7mm WSM.  Put a Leupold VX3-L on it and loaded up some 160gr Nosler Accubonds with 69gr of Hodgdon H1000.  Thing is a tack driver!  Ready to take down a bear and late season MT now.

Xbolt is far better than an Abolt in any cartridge.

Awesome ballistics, makes no sense why this round isn't popular.

Nice rifle! I agree the round should be more popular. Brass is hard to come by.

It is a great round ballistically speaking, hence the reason I went with it.  :chuckle: And yeah, brass is a bit tough to find for it.  I snatched up the only bag at Cabela's after a couple trips to previous stores.  Hand loading is a must on some cartridges.

I have been looking for the 300 win mag LH medallion but have not been able to find one. I am able to pick up a Hunter in a 300 win mag LH. is the only difference the gloss and engraving? why did you go with the hunter instead of the medallion?

What kind of groups are you getting? Smallest, average, biggest?

I havent shot it on a bench and measured groups.. I used the side of my truck bed for a rest and was getting less than an inch at 75-80yds.. It shoots tight groups no doubt about it, but I dont like to pay range fees

I have an X bolt in 7mm rem mag. Best grouping I got was about an inch and a half, but that's because of shooter not rifle.  :chuckle:

I've really tossed around picking one up in a 7mm WSM/synthetic. I like the feel of the rifle but it was sitting next to a stack of Tikka's which were seriously stinking and beginning to give me a serious rash, the sort of rash a guy could get out behind the Rock Island Tavern there in Rock Island WA ;).  Maybe I'll take a better look when they move them further from the riff raf. :tung:
