Been looking in the stomaches?
« on: August 11, 2008, 12:32:11 PM »
Have any of you successfull bear hunters taken a look in the stomaches of your bears?
The way that you wander, is the way that you choose
The day that you tarry, is the day that you lose

What kind of berries and how could "pre-exit pie" be too nasty?

The bear I shot yesterday had been grazing on grass, roots, etc.  No berries yet and no obvious carnivorous activity.

A friend got one, and said it smelled like berries while he was gutting it. I'm going to check out his spot saturday,

Intestinal track wasnt all that bad...they actually smell quite sweet..in a warm nasty sense. Where this bear was, there were plenty of wild vine running black berries and rasberries...*(not including hucks)...this was what was in there no doubt.

Okanagon bear was full of Huckleberries this past weekend.  However, a big one we were trying to locate was still eating a lot of grass based on his scat.
