AMAZING steal at Golite (sleeping bags)
« on: August 16, 2012, 04:14:24 PM »
I would venture to say you will not find a better bag for this price at these weights...

I own the blue one (20* bag) and absolutely love it.  Light, compresses small, and EN rated.

The red ones are the zero degree bags.

Okay I'm stuck in a bit of a pickle here.  I currently have a North Face Snow Leopard (0 degree, synthetic).  Very good for wet and cold, but weighs almost 4 lbs.  I want something a little lighter and that packs smaller for trips where I know rain chance is minimal.

So between the Summer one season 40 degree bag (regular sized) and the 3 season 20 degree bag, the weight difference is nearly a pound, but i'm more concerned about packed size.  Will they pack down to nearly the same size?  (They are out of the regular sized 20 degree bags).   I dont need another bigger warm bag necessarily, but I'd love to find one to get me through a dry side high buck hunt.  Would the 40 degree one be too weak for that?

In summary, which one would get me through high buck on the east side and how does their packed size compare?  (40 degree regular versus 20 degree long).  HELP!

I read some reviews before ordering and a guy was saying that he was 6' 175lbs and was glad he went with the 'long' version, for what it's worth... I am 6' and currently 202 and I went with the long as well.... :twocents:

I'm 5'10" and have a little room in the foot box with the regular.

Here's my 20* bag in an 11 liter compression sack.

Go with the long and just stuff a jacket or the next days clothing down there during the night.  It will take up the space and you'll have warm clothes to put on in the morning.

I might have had that option before those sold out too.  I'm a pretty warm sleeper and have a good thermarest neo air pad, so I thought I'd try the 40 just cause it was such a good deal.  We'll see how it works with some socks and base layer on.  I have the 0 degree bag if its looking like it'll be real cold.  Its just bulky.

You will probably be fine.  They are EN rated so you will be comfortable down to 40* and probably less if you are a warm sleeper.   I slept in the low 20*s with my 20* bag this last year and never woke up cause of the cold once. That's why it pays to buy an EN rated bag... There was ice all over the outside of the tent and I was sleeping great inside.   Once you get it, toss up a picture of it compressed.  I'd like to see the difference in size.

Is this "sale" still going? I see pretty cheap prices, just wondering if they were cheaper a couple days ago???

It's still going, but certain bags/lengths are sold out.

These are the sale prices.

0*  = $199
20*= $149
40*= $119

I'm looking at the 0 degree long but am worried about the shoulders. I'm 6' 230 pounds. Based on the reviews it looks like it might be too tight for me?? Any thoughts? Thanks
