I found this:

Quote
All Port Blakely Timberlands Closed Due to Extreme Fire Danger

8/15/2012 - Port Blakely Tree Farms’ Forests Closed Until Further Notice

Prolonged hot and dry weather conditions coupled with forecasted lightning in the foothills of the Cascades raised the risk of forest fires in the region. Until further notice, PORT BLAKELY TREE FARMS forestland in Washington and Oregon is closed to ALL public access. This closure applies to foot, horse, motorized and any other form of access.

While we regret any inconvenience this may cause to recreational users, our decision to prohibit access reflects our priorities: safety and the protection of our forests. Port Blakely employees and security officials are monitoring the weather conditions and unauthorized access.

This closure to all traffic is temporary. Regular allowable access will be permitted once the risk of forest fires decreases and forest conditions are considered safe.

Port Blakely gates are always locked. At least every one I've been to. Glad I got
my camera out of my spot before it was totally shut down.

I was in the Margaret yesterday, we got a little rain but I was surprised at how damp things still were up there.

I like this cool weather we're getting but we definitely need some moisture.

Why do they shut down walk-in access because of a forcast of LIGHTNING???  Makes no sense.  You would think having people out there would help them spot any fires started by strikes.  More eyes in the woods.
Weyco. still open to non-motorized (as usual) access as of today.
