What's it going to be used for- grouse, squirrels, rabbits? Deer, elk, bears? Targets? Coyotes?

Maybe a 243 would work well then. Cheap ammo, low recoil, fun to shoot, good for anything from coyotes up to deer.

For what you want, I would go with a .243, 25/06, or .270, depending on how big of game? These are pretty common calibers, ammo is cheap and easy to find, recoil is light yet these rounds are pretty flat shooting.  :twocents:

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Do you roll your own ammo? I'd suggest the .223, .243 and .270 if you don't. If you do, 22-250 or any of the 6mm bunch. I don't suggest the air rifle unless you don't want to shoot too far outside or if it would help you hunt in a firearms restricted area.  :twocents:

It's not legal to hunt game in WA with an air rifle, so I'm not really sure why that would even be an option.???

I'd say 25-06, .270 or .260 Rem.

Doesn't stop rats and racoons and possum from getting hit by air pellets in people's backyards :chuckle:
