Road Maint.
« on: September 05, 2012, 06:43:58 PM »
Just wondering if anybody has been up the 1808 rd. off the back of Bumping LK.? It had some pretty good washouts and they were doing some work last season. Just wondering how far you can drive up now? If anyone has any info for me I would appreciate it. Thanks and happy hunting

Morn'un,

Check out this thread:
http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,104533.0.html

He calls it the 1801 but it's really the 1808. Also, he's correct 'bout the road end'un where he states. I was there a few weeks ago.

Take care,
Lee

They are working on copper city right now. The road will get fixed next year.

Naches,

Please tell me what you mean by "working on Copper City right now". What exactly are they do'un?

I absolutly love the Bumping area. I have read every book I can find concerning the area. Also did tons of research on the building of the dam in 1910 and also the mining activities of the area. I usually make 4-5 camping trips to the Bumping each summer and our Smoke-Pole group is there each Oct to chase the elk.

Sadly, I have read that there is currently an affort afoot to nearly double the size of the lake with the building of a new dam. It would be located 1/2 way between the existing dam and Goose Prairie. I don't see any plan to relocate the 1800 road around the new dam. The folks who own the Marina are pretty pissed as it will be under 10's of feet of water. Also, the cabins and the camp ground on the south side of the lake.

Thanks guys for the info. I've been hunting it for awhile and taking alot of animals out of there, but if that road opens its gonna change things. I hunt  the muzzleloader season and havent gotten the chance to do my scouting this year. Sounds like it might get crowded up there this year. Thanks  again guys.
