Can't we all just get along :chuckle:  I try and fish the Skok twice a year.  Eggs drifted or under a float works well for me.  I do wish they would make it bait only with a SBH.  For all the Skok haters, you don't have to go.  No need to post how you feel.  Everyone knows how it is down there.  Either go fish or don't.  But the year after year posting of how you think the Skok sucks because of this or that??? :dunno:  Post a pic of your fish if you go and good luck.  :twocents:

The Skok sucks.  Ha!

WSU, you sucken on the Skok???  What the ???  I guess I wouldn't expect anything different from a Coug :chuckle:

Plateau,

I agree, there are a chit ton of sporties that snag away and I think they are a$$holes as well. But it really chaps my hide when I see a bunch of local tribesmen down there with braided line ripping away just to kill. No need to profile, I know them by name! I have grown up there and seen it all, I have fought with both tribe and sporties.

Why the hell can't people just do what is right? Where is that "pride" that is supposed to be there when several are mutilating fish just to kill and many just to spite the fact that they "can" do it?  It's called "wastage" and is a law with almost all Tribes.  Document it and report it, I do when I witness it.
I have sent it to tribal police for years. Is anything done? Nope. I have sat in with said offender after the third time of being turned in, with photos. Anything done that time? Nope.

As well, I have very close friends that are tribal fishers and I accept that the tribe gets its 50% of the catch, I have to live with that. What I'm not ok with is flippin' jerks who would defend the act or do it themselves, its BS. I'm not defending them or the ones choosing to break any laws, if they are in fact breaking them, or using a method such as snagging.  I don't do it nor do I allow or teach my children to harvest any species fish or land mammal in an unethical and illegal manner.  I was pointing out the word you were using and how you chose to use it.  If snagging is legal per their regulations then there is nothing I or you for that matter do about it.  But if it's illegal then I would think at least on your behalf you would've reported it.  I know I would've and do report anything illegal that I happen to witness.I thank you for having enough respect for our fish and wildlife and believe you when you say that you are passing good ethics to your family as do I

All this over a fish in a river that could hold one of the best runs in the state, but no. Too many flippin' idiots from tribe, sporties and WDFW.

And a bit petty on the spell check...Nope, the way you're choosing to use it and spell it is in my eyes derogatory and offensive.  You might not think so but I do.I apologize if I offended you. I have grown some fairly thick skin over the years and I would hope others would too. Many people jump on the sensitivity wagon a bit too early for my taste and will only refer to Skokomish Tribal members as that or what they like to call themselves "Skok Dogs".

Lastly, I hope that you continue your ways as a productive outdoorsman and tribal member and I hope we can cross paths. Yes, I work and fish on the Skok and nearly every Western Washington river so I am sure we will.

I just wanted to know how the fishing is???? :bash: I don't give a S#!T how you feel about the river and the combat fishing. Here are pictures from '09, first time ever been there. I got a 20 and a 25lber. If the fishing is good and it's a chance to catch big fish who cares. If you don't know how to fish in a crowd stay home and don't catch a BIG KING. Would someone post the reg.s on this river I don't see where it's open open certain days of the week?

I can't believe someone from PA would drive to the Skok instead of heading west...

Believe it. When they stack up in the Skok it's game on. BTW, fishing is slow out west right now.

Got a report today that they were stacked last week and now they seem to be far and few between. What have you all heard?

everybody deserves what they get on that river, its full of all colors of trash. if i wanted to fish in a garbage dump, i could save alot of gas money. that said, i appreciate it, as it keeps the trash outa my pool.

Here is a video I took a couple of weeks ago.  I started fishing the Skokomish when I was a young child.  I stopped fishing there about 8 years ago when I got fed up with all the BS.

Before I could even drive I would get dropped off at the river and I experienced people pulling guns, my fish were taken away for being on the "wrong" side of the river, I was threatened, and allways disgusted by the crowds on the river.  Fishing to me is more about the experience and relaxation than harvest.  This is not fishing... it is stressfull and sad.

As another member mentioned before, for the last few years that I fished the river I would walk in before light and fish with eggs for about an hour before the daily snagfest.  Now I stop by for about an hour at a time but only bring my polarized glasses and a beer to enjoy the entertainment.  Some days its like you are watching trailer park boys and other days its like you are watching UFC.

Enjoy the video.  I edited this out of 5 min of footage and couldnt believe what I captured.  Freaking hilarious.  I wish you could see the kid get hit in (or near) the junk better though.  Before the lines let loose there are about 4 lines hovering over the water because everyone is tangled... then wham!  And the dialogue between the fishermen when the gentelman finally hooked one in the mouth is hilarious.  Funnier if you were there though.  The tribal members keept catching peoples line when they had fish on and werent very polite about letting their line out.  That is why the guy was so angry, but in this case the tribal member had his own fish on.
