satsop 651 gates open?
« on: August 28, 2012, 08:19:36 PM »
Anybody know if gates are being closed during this dry spell?  Spefically the green diamond gates around matlock.  Hate to show up to closed gates.  Spots i like to walk are quite a ways in.

Expect most gates to be closed.  Still dry and with all the left, dumping, and vandalism it is unlikely.  Be happy you can access at all as based on some of the industrial fire levels and the potential in the next week or so they can easily say no access.

However, some gates are open just not many.  More will open as MF seasons approached.   Off course it has not helped that many bear hunters and people scouting have done a good job of disrespecting many of the timber companies.   Thanks guy's!  Special thanks to those that ride ATV's!

I wouldn't plan on any gates open during archery season. Green diamond doesn't usually open the gates until opening day of rifle season. Port Blakely  never opens their gates. You will be lucky to even be able to access by foot unless we get some rain. So far you are good for non motorized access but hope for rain. Where you coming from?

Coming from graham.  So its not a big deal if gates were closed.  I've only hunted out that way in late ml.  Of course its all open then.

All gates are closed as of today. I just got home scouting around the house. And I haven't seen any of my hit list bucks sense mid July  :bash:

I've talked to a few green diamond workers today and none of them could give me an answer of when the gates will open.

I'm new to the town of shelton as of about 4 days ago. I moved from the eastside so getting home to my old hunting spots might be kinda tough. I was looking into the 651 unit and was wondering if anyone knows a place to get some good maps of the area? Preferably one that shows ownership

All the gates I went by today were locked but still open to foot traffic. Port Blakely and green diamond
