Favorite shocks

What are your favorite shocks? I got a 89 dodge cummins w250. It's lifted 6 inches and is on 35s. The old shocks are shot and I can't take it any more. Every bump goes right up my spine!

I'm partial to Monroe Sensa Trac shocks.  They have dramatically improved the combined on/off road drive of each truck I put them on.

Thanks for your input guys. I actually ended up getting rancho rs 9000s. they were a little pricey but well worth it!

Goood luck with the ran*censored*os. Put those on my 03 cummins one ton and could not make 30,000 miles! These are the front shocks. gots air bags on the rear so not as much use on those. They warantied the fronts and they only lasted not even 30,000! Put the Bilsteins 5100 on now. Payed 20.00$ extra for 3 year replacement at 4 wheel parts.With the weight on the front of those trucks i dont believe there is a shock that will last supper long. When i asked for the 3 year warranty the guy at the counter kinda hand a look like he knew i would be back for warranty! We will see. Only 4 grand on them now.

I have the 9000s on my 3/4 ton chevy.They really make a difference when I haul my camper. I reall like them. When I got mine there was a $100 rebate so the were only a few bucks more than regular shocks.

Bilsrein are really good 

You might need 5125's for the extra shaft length.

i have an 03 Dodge 2500 4wd 4door. Bilsteins  look good, nice feature with 5160s as they can be adjusted to lift front end without spacer kits how much are these if anyone knows??

Up front I have Thuren Fabrication leveling springs with his track bar and 2.0 fox res. shocks, In the rear I use his shackles which can be used at level, +3/4" or +1.5" with fox shocks this allows 35" tires. all the shocks are valved to my driving/hauling. I have 5100's on my 98.5 24 valve Bilstien now makes a shock just like the fox 2.0 reservoir also. Bottom line get a shock that is rebuildable I think Don charges $35ea  to rebuild my fox's

Why spend 2-3 times on Fox shocks and have to pay to have them rebuilt at $35 a corner when you can buy Rancho's or Bilstein's and they warranted for life to the original owner?
Had Bilstein's on my '98 12 valve and have Rancho 9k's on '05 3500 DRW and Rancho 5k's on my '07 2500 .  Either shock will work just fine for 99% of the daily use any of us can throw at our trucks without paying for unnecessary Fox bling.

110k on my Rancho 9k's.  One of the rear bushings just let go.  Rancho said send both rear shocks to us along with your receipt and we will ship you 2 new ones.
I tried to get new fronts out of them too the guy laughed and said "I would if I could, I'm pushing it just giving you the 2nd rear one."

Save your Rancho receipts.........

I have the Bilstein 5100's on my Jeep TJ Rubicon. They are tough but also ride well.

Bilsteins are great.  I put Edelbrock IAS shocks on my Dodge 2500 and have been very happy with them also.  A little cheaper than the Bilsteins.

If you have ever owned a quad or snowmobile and have shocks that are tuned to you and your riding you will know what I mean by having a rebuildable shock. If you wait for a shock to break even if it's under warranty that shock was shot long before that. My truck weighs 8K pounds those shocks take a hell of a beating especially the fronts (I drive a lot of dirt roads all year long) So it's worth ever penny of that $35 to have my fronts built to take the weight of my truck while the backs are built for a better ride. Bottom line a shock that's used much should be rebuilt at least every 2 years.

So I finally got around to installing the rears this past weekend since I need the truck this coming weekend.  Obviously, I don't drive it very much.   
So I ripped out both front shocks just to check an one of them is toast, in and out just like butter.
I called Rancho and spoke with the guy I talked to back in early December.  He said "don't waste your time shipping them back, we don't want them and I believe you.  I'm looking at your receipt as we talk and I'll kick you down that front pair too.  You should have them on Wednesday."
