Nice Walla Walla Bull
« on: August 27, 2012, 09:53:51 PM »
My wife and daughter came with me for an evening on the mountain, and we managed to find some critters with the video camera.  I spent nearly a half hour calling and watching... and the elk were chatting back.  Very fun evening.  Hope you enjoy.

Thanks guys.  This is private ground, though I wasn't 50 yards from the public road.  The bull in the background was a 1x2.  Pretty good size animal.

We stopped at a good looking area and started to call.  The elk started answering and eventually started coming out of the thickets.  The bull bugled, which is how I knew he was there, and to wait around for him to come out too.

Hi Ross,
The camera is a little HD Sony HDR-CX130.   If I remember right, it's a 20x optical zoom, with 42x extended zoom.  I think the elk were in the ballpark of 450 yards.  The whitetail was way off.  I only included that one because my dad and I have the late whitetail tags this year, and I wanted him to see it.
