want to hunt bears
« on: August 28, 2012, 01:39:14 PM »
Hello everyone i would like to go on my first bear hunt. I would like someone with experience to take me. I'm 14 and have never been big game hunting. I have taken hunter safety and are very safe. I would also like to know the best load for a 30-06 for bear. I live in the Gig harbor area and would like to hunt on the western side of Washington.
The way my bank account is set up I have a checking account and a saving account and I have to transfer my money to my saving account and thats going to take 3 business day- Kevin hart

I would think most any of the 180 grain bullets would work great for your rifle. Even the Remington core- loks

Have you ever hunted with anyone before? What do your parents think about this? I agree that any 180g factory loads would work just fine.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Glad to see you venture out and begin to make contacts in the hunting community. I know there are alot of good people on this site that would love to take you out. The only problem and the reason you may not be getting many replies is that taking someone that is under age  that you don't know  and don't know their parents, could be a HUGE liability issue. It may be easier if you could convince a legal gaurdian to tag along a few times so one of the hunters on this site can get to know you and your gaurdian.

Just a thought, because I know that would be my concern.... :twocents:

Hey legrange, good to hear of youth entering the sport. Welcome.

Sounds like you and your uncle are looking for some help on getting on a bear?  If you look around on the site and share discussion with folks here for long enough, you may not need someone else taking you out. Alot of great info on the site.

Is your uncle also checking this site out?
