My elk pack is always very heavy. The dang bags I have to keep the blow flies off suck! I am around 35lbs.

Starts to add up when you are packing it quite a ways :) When we do our rifle camp its not a concern, sometimes I feel like I need an extra truck he he.

You should try 1 liter of water and a water filter. I drink a lot of water but 3 liters puts me to shame. I hiked in the snow 5+ miles to 9500' on mt adams with a 2 day pack and didnt consume 3L of water.
I'll be about 40lbs for 4 days with the rifle included.

Did a 62 mile hike in the bob marshal and pack weighed 72#. My friend thought I was nuts but he sure liked my p nut mm's.  :chuckle:

If I am hunting for a week though I keep my weight around 50# and that is a tent and spotting scope, and game bags.

"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?
