my first elk
« on: September 09, 2012, 07:28:01 AM »
finally took my first elk. Not the biggest bull in the woods , but in a 3 pt. or antlerless unit I was happy to connect with a bull. The shot was back but he was quartered away and I watched the arrow bury up to fletchings. He ran about 40 yards facing the other direction and I could see my broadhead sticking out right behind his left front shoulder. He wandered into the reprod and I watched him sway back and forth before going out of sight. We backed out and let him sit for a couple hours. When we came back to recover he was laying 10 yards from where i'd seen him last, stiff as a board. I couldn't be happier
