Is It Too Early?....
« on: September 16, 2012, 09:23:51 PM »
To start thinking about Coyote Madness V?  Not for me--I've got a lot of making up to do for my dismal performance in the IV!

Signed, The Ultimate "Maybe Next Timer".  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

Seriously--the rockchucks are hibernating, Ground Squirrels are too, Prairie Dogs are too far away, what's left?  YOTES!  :IBCOOL:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Watched a coyote in the field where I went to cut fire wood on Sat morning. I still haven't bought a licence to kill them so I didn't even have a gun. I just kept thinking- 3 points for a west side coyote in a month or so. I have been getting the itch to get out lately too.

Still too early for me, I won't start until around Nov. 1, by then the pelts will be coming in, most of the deer hunters will be gone and maybe we'll have a bit of snow here and there.

Like FalFire said, Nov. 1 will probably be when we start things off.  I also can't wait.  Time to rally the troops!

Only gun I have is a .308.  Probably not too good for keeping a pelt in good order.  I guess I could put the .243 barrel on

Given the time it took to get the permit last year, maybe It's not too early to at least get the application in.  November isn't that far away...  Not too early to start forming teams, either.   :chuckle:

Just put your name in the hat when the list thread gets posted to let everyone know you are available as a team member. Keep in mind too, that these teams are limited to 5 shooters per team and you do not have to actually hunt with another member of your team. Last year I was a member on Sagebrush Assassins but only hunted with one team member, mainly because we are neighbors. The other members of our team lived far, far away and as a matter of fact, I have never met them in person.

Only gun I have is a .308.  Probably not too good for keeping a pelt in good order.  I guess I could put the .243 barrel on

The caliber is really not important unless you are saving hides, lots of guys don't save them and would rather just pop 'em and drop 'em   :bfg:

good point wasn't it like 50 bucks for the permit last year? we should start gathering it up and get it in now

The rules for last year's event are still posted and I assume they are the same for this year.  As Falfire said, you don't have to hunt with the other members of your team.  Team Maybe Next Time members covered an area from Goldendale to Wenatchee.  The main theme is to just have FUN.  If you're expecting big prizes for the winners, there aint none!
I would support a modest entry fee to defray the cost of the permit. No sense in expecting the HW site to be holding the bag for the whole thing!  :twocents:
