what caused the exploded liver?
« on: September 13, 2012, 09:39:01 PM »
Last night my buddy arrowed a little 4x4, it ran 63 yards. and 15-25 ft off a cliff. After recovery and gutting we found the liver was exploded chest cavity was full of blood and chunks of liver. The shot was a double lung and a little bit of heart(checked it too) but what made the liver explode you think it was the shot or the fall?

Jack Daniels..... :chuckle:
Seriously, not sure per your description, was the arrow a pass through?
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I was at camp one night drinking with a few deer that we had a truce with, and one of them dropped dead next to the camp fire.  We were drinking jack, but not that much.

We rolled him over and were ready to do CPR then saw 1,376 wolves standing there looking at us as if we were intruding on their turf.  We slowly walked into the tent and let nature take it's course.

Yes, this was in NE Washington, unit 121  :chuckle:

Most likely it was the shock of the fall.  The broadhead might have started cutting the innards loose, though.  :dunno:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I'm not sure if Bowhunter has ever been in 121  :dunno: If he has, I'm sure I have the GPS coordinates and trailcam pics  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Sebek - not to gramatically correct you .... but it would be "an" adult beverage.

Also, I have no idea if any portion of this comment is grammatically correct.

Liver is on the other side of the diaphram from chest cavity.  Collapse the lungs, add impact and pressure from the stomach side, and if a small hole breaks in the diaphram it's like sucking jello through your teeth.  Only explaination I can come up with :dunno:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
