Stillwater Opener Saturday 9/29/12
« on: September 22, 2012, 07:42:48 AM »
How many people are planning on hunting the Stillwater site north of Carnation next weekend? My hunting partners wife was just diagnosed with lung cancer :( so I do not believe he will be hunting anytime soon. He has 2 luellen setters that are 2 of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of hunting with, as I have no dogs, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let me tag along with them. I am an experienced hunter from the Midwest (MN to be specific), and would be truly great-full to anyone that would let me tag along. Thanks guys.

I appreciate the couple of gentlemen who have pm'd me and I will (hopefully) be hunting with them soon  :) when are schedules allow. I do not know if the other 140 people who viewed the post are not trusting of someone, but I am truly begging :hello: :hello: anyone to let me tag along with them. It truly hurts my pride to ask, but that is the point I am at. It looks like I will be staying back of the shooting line for a few minutes, and hope to shoot a miss from everyone else. (Maybe I'll bring my wife, and make her be the bird dog!!!!!!) That's not going to happen, so I am asking from the bottom of my heart for someone to let me tag along.

MP,

I would be happy to have you join me and my dog. I love to watch him hunt and it’s as much a thrill to me to watch others shoot birds as for me to do it. He’s with a trainer for a few more weeks (due to employment issues his planned Spring training got delayed till now). send me a pm
and we can discuss. FYI: most of my bird hunting’s on the East side, but for first time in 10 yrs I got the W. Side permit. I have to look to see if I"m even or odd, but I’d go out either day and just  leave my gun at home if neccessary. JRL

I haven't bought it yet I am buying it today, I was waiting to see if there was going to be anyone responding to my post. I will probably be buying the odd day license, so I can hunt Saturday morning, what day license do you have?

Had a good time meeting and hunting this morning with Mike for Westside pheasant. If anyone else has the time or extra room for another hunter during the season he is good to go. Really nice guy, easy going and has some experience to share.

Stillwater was definitely crowded this morning with Cherry Valley still being closed. That being said, most of everyone was pretty cordial and flexible out there. One thing though is that the grass is pretty high. A little tougher to maneuver through.

I had a great time meeting and hunting with Orca_SIX at the Stillwater sight. Great guy, who I got along with very well. Thank you to him again that he let me hunt alongside of him, I am forever great-full to you sir!!!

Busiest I've ever seen that sight. People almost shoulder to shoulder at the starting line. As ORCA said, most people were very nice and courteous. We kicked up 2 Roosters, one that ORCA hit real good from about 20 yds, it went down into some REAL thick stuff, we looked for it around 20 minutes or so but were unable to find it.

A real fun day overall, and it was great to meet someone from the site who was so nice and fun to be around. Thanks again ORCA, really appreciate it!!!
