New to the area, camp and hunt area?
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:40:12 PM »
Hello everyone, I have been a reader of the site for a little bit now. I have yet to post.  However, I am afraid I am in over my head and need some help!

Like a lot of members here on the board I am also Active Duty military, me and a few friends of mine have decided to take a late season Archery trip. The problem we are having is finding a spot to hunt and camp. Obviously not camping right on our hunting spot but pretty close.

Ideally we would like to set up a base camp, tents, Fire, food, relax play cards have a good time and then head out on foot for the day hunt, rise and repeat for 5 nights.  I am not asking for your spot to bag the big ones, although that would be great! but mainly looking for spots that we can drive in, set up a camp and head out on foot for the day. 600 GMU would be great, as we are from Bremerton but not against driving to Spokane if needed to make this trip happen.

Any help and I mean any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome, thanks for your service.

Try the search feature on the site and possibly try searching for specific GMU names in the 600 series...

I prefer to hunt national forest land since you can generally hunt and camp on the land.

Good luck.

Shipmate,
I would go look at hunting on Whibdey Island (I am thinking of going there for late season as well)... There is a campground on base and I heard they were opening it up for archery, you just have to go to one of their "meeting" and I think there is a small free to hunt on the base. I was just up there this psat weekend and the camping area is AWESOME!
