Okanogan grouse
« on: October 04, 2012, 08:37:09 AM »
Last week I was able to get back in the woods again after grouse. I hunted east of Oroville not far from the house. It's nice to have an area to hunt so close to home. Our property is part of an Association and hunting is not allowed. It's not a bad idea, it keeps holes in the house to a minimum. So the first photo is of "Lucky" the blue grouse I spotted on the property on my way to the National Forest behind the house. I followed the rule despite how tempting it was to nail old Lucky.

This grouse was not so lucky, it was on Forest land...

Here's your typical hero shot, taken early in the morning...it's the first feathered bird my 625 has taken. Until now it only killed those funny orange ones.

On the opening week Sasha and I bagged this nice blue grouse.

Well, it's back to work again until the next trip, hope you enjoyed coming along...

Nice work and great pics.  I'll be in the Oroville area this weekend.  Would be great to run across a couple grouse when I'm checking our game cams.

Beautiful bird.
It allmost looks like a cross between ruffed and blue... lol

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

Looks like Lucky wasnt so lucky
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
