Gonna burn my WA deer tag (photo added)
« on: October 10, 2012, 09:57:34 PM »
Heading to Wyoming for a DIY deer/elk hunt.  Monday is the opening day for deer.  Looks like I get to hunt in snow this year.  :IBCOOL: Might get a chance to do a little predator hunting too ;)  Can't wait to get into camp.

Did you or your wife perchance go into the ACU in Spanaway today? My girlfriend talked to a lady today whose husband was heading out to Greybull. What unit did you draw for elk and deer? I'm in Region R for deer, and going tomorrow after my 2 white tail does...Good luck!
Wishing I was fishing...or in Wyoming

Wasn't us.  Have pulled a general elk 3 years in a row.  1st year for deer.  Most of the time will be in Elk unit 28.  Brother already has camp setup.  Quick stop in SLC for a Friday night Jazz game, then to camp.  Hoping the Monday opener keeps the mountain to ourselves.  Good luck with your hunt.

Just made it back.  We hunted hard, and the effort was worth it.  Struck out on elk, but got the best buck of my life by far.  May need help posting pictures and official measure.  31" 5x5 for starters.  Credit goes to my brother for sharing a life time of mule deer knowledge.

With the elk getting the best of us, we take a break and head into the sagebrush looking for a nice muley.  Never dreamed this one would give me an opportunity.  Got it a first light, 265 yards going straight away.

Dandy animal!

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
