How far we talkin?

The first sniff of rain they get they will start moving. As soon as the river gets colored up it will be a stampede and won't take them long to run the entire river. :twocents:

Not long. They are swimming their tails off right now. Middle of October and the first real rain... They've been ready for some time now

I've heard 14 miles in a day, which is reasonable with an average flow I would think.   Tides are still significant in determining entry time not just when the rain starts.

It's raining now, nets are in and it's low tide.  Maybe I will fish this evening before the river turns to mud tomorrow.

if there's enough water to swim up, and the barometer takes a dive(like the afternoon before a big rainstorm) i've seen them bomb up river in the thousands.

this year, the rivers have been so low that i think many are stranded below log jams and shallow riffles and not even a few were making it up.  supposed to be a phenomenal year for silvers out here, so i can't wait until the rivers flush out and drop into shape.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
