Muzzy Deer
« on: October 12, 2012, 05:53:18 PM »
My son's third year hunting and he scored this buck last week.  We were on our way to the area we wanted to hunt when at 7:20am my wife looked down and saw a 3 point buck bedded down.  She stopped and my son and I walked up to have the buck see us and bound off before having time to take aim.  We continued to our destination and did a 4 hour hell walk.  As we were driving out I had my son by the door and my wife driving.  I told my boy to watch the ravine which we earlier saw the buck as he could be bedded down again some were in there.  Not 10 min. later he says buck.  I asked my wife to continue to drive.  Once we were a good distance from where he saw the deer, we got out.  Then came the crunch of gravel as we start to walk back down the road.  I told my boy to kick off his shoes and make his way back down the road.  I saw him stop and he looked at me and pointed in to the woods.  I though he could not yet see the deer, but he was trying to ask if he should shoot.  Not knowing I motioned him down the road more.  He again motioned as he did before and still not understanding I flagged him further down the road.  This time he shrugged his shoulders raised his muzzy and fired.  After his shot he stood there and looked for a few seconds and I though oh no he missed. Finally he looked at me and gave me a big smile and thumbs up  .  I walked down to him thinking now the search begins to find he dropped him where he stood.  He got his first buck at age 17.  I was a proud as any father could be.

It's better to have a gun and not need it than to need one and not have it.                                                                             Local 66 sheetmetal workers

Great buck
If we were supposed to be vegetarian God would have made broccoli more fun to shoot!
"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?
