Wow.

Tough to understand the hate of Buckrun here.....

*  Private Land
*  Well managed for deer (very well managed)

Would you feel better if they managed it poorly, or is this just jealousy because you don't get access to absolutely primo private land?

I mean, I'd love access to hunt there year in and year out, but why hate them becasue they do suck a good job?    If it were yours, wouldn't you protect it, too?    I would!

Is it ok to have access to semi-primo private land, but not truly priumo private land?

Lots of us work hard to secure access to private land.....

I can't help myself, I have to chime in on this.

First of all, grow up! you know who you are. No need for name calling. I'm glad you have had good experience there. But that doesn't mean 206 is a joke, hater or anything. Maybe he has had bad experiences.  Let him share them.
Here's my experiences, not slander, here say, just facts.

I have been followed by him and his henchmen on a maintained county road! I was not hunting nor did I have a rifle, bow or muzzeloader in my rig.  I was going to shot one all right!  with my Nikon.
WDFW needs to step in and get rid of this program all together.  No one except his business partner ( the one who owns the majority of the land ) likes him in Wilson Creek or the surrounding areas. He ran out of a community meeting a few years ago at the school like a coward.  Buckrun Has no boundries! just pieces of private land/sections/parcels scatter through out the Stratford/Wilson Creek areas. Most of them have public/county road running right through them. People think he's a prick because he acts like one.  Telling people they can't drive county roads? Who the f$%^ does he think he is. He has put in some food plots and done some management. All buckrun raffle bucks are management bucks.  If you have $1000.00 a point you can shoot a monster!  He does not own the Deer the state of Washington does. If the deer leave one of the "201" contracted pieces of private property, too bad. He abd his business partners need to drop the "godlike attitude" over there and quit messing with people unless they are accually tresspassing!
You want to know why people in the area don't like him!  Lets say I came to you becuase you have some land where these deer like to travel. I say " Let me manage your land and open it to hunting and I will keep the riffraff out and you don't need worry about a thing"  you agree and sign a contract.  Then later you find out I'm making Thousands of dollars off your land and you don't get a penny!                Everyone following me here?     Then, because we have a contract you can't back out or give Mr. John Smith and his son permission to hunt your land because you are under contract with Stevens!
Lets say for instance!          Your son wins a raffle buck hunt there! In the regs it says "ANY BUCK".  Your day comes and as a proud father you are right there next to him.  You are told " ok, i'm going to honk the horn and when they stand up. you shoot that one!"    He honks the horn, they stand up and your son shoots the monster pig he wasn't supposed to shoot! kinda funny really but how would you feel about this>           He turns to your 12yo son and says "what the F#$% are you doing? you cant shoot that one!" Yelling and screaming at the kid who now is in tears. Telling your son he is NOT taking that deer home becasuse he gets $1000.00 a point for a deer like that!  At this point your ready to beat this guys ass up and down the country side for how he is treating your only son!  And you say  "my son is taking that buck or we can call the game warden right now!"  They say " take your F#$%^&^g deer and get the F#$% off my property all while your kid is in tears and can here all this!  How would that make you feel?           There is no Frickin deer in the world worth ruining your child's look on the sport of hunting.

Everyone has an opinion and that's what makes forums fun!   But  I chimed in Because I know the Facts! Feel free to question me if you like because you love the guy for whatever reason.  But the whole thing is a SHAME plain and simple!
His wife told me on the phone once that I could "BUY" a winning raffle ticket with enough money! When I asked how much she said"  IDK  shoot me a #.  I hung up.

Have your private property and charge people to hunt there. Be an Outfiiter/guide whatever. NO PROBLEM!
But the fact that WDFW is involved with this character is what makes the whole thing hard to swallow.   WDFW, just close the program and let them do what they want with thier land.  But false advertising in the regs and allowing this guy to continue with the DFW name attached?  You should be embarrassed!

i prefer to do my own hunting  anyways! :) never have entered for a buckrun hunt and never will! he does have some of the biggest deer i have ever seen in washington by far last winter i seen some easy 200 inch bucks out there, but in all honesty...id rather work my ass off for a 3 point before i paid $6000 to go shoot some 200inch pet deer, but thats just me!! and im also only 25, i do think it is great that your dad will be able to get another deer tho, it is obviously a different situation when your dad just physically cant handle going deer hunting like he use to im sure and aint nothing wrong with finding a way to go deer hunting when it comes down to that!

WOW, some very misinformed or jealous people on this site  :dunno: He owns the property along with his Father, the WDFW do not hate him, he has a very big problem with people tresspassing  :bdid: to go after the big deer, Big deer make guys do BAD THINGS   :twocents: The "Henchmen" are Grant county Sheriffs that help with the tresspassing. His raffle hunts are not guided by him so not sure about the story with the 12 yr. old  :dunno: I am looking foreward to my hunt

I don't know about all the politics involved here, or the bashers, but there are 2 sides to every story. I won't pass judgement on someone without all the facts. All I know is that I drew a doe permit the first year that tags were issued for this hunt. I went there, met the owner, Stevens, he was a nice guy. He took us out and showed us where to hunt then left. We killed 3 does on this hunt. It was a fun time. At that time he said if we wanted to come out and shoot a management buck up to 24 inches, it was $1000.00. If we wanted a trophy class animal it was $3000.00. There was no talk about $1000.00 per point. Also he said most hunts were a day, but if you needed more time you could have it. Now if you shot and missed then you didn't get more day's so make your shot count. If you shot and wounded an animal and couldn't find it then your hunt was over right then. Seemed reasonable to me. I never went back to buck hunt because it's not my thing, but I'd go back for a doe.

It's all about the money isn't it?  How much money did Bucksruns get for for those horns?  What about the Mafia's "take" that nobody knows about?  I consider those doe tags on their land prostitution.  Anybody who participates in prostitution is a low life.

So those who are happy with their experience at bucks run:  Are you really proud of that buck from the Mafia?  You bucked up the bucks..........for a one day hunt... and the crew gave you a buck for statistical purposes.

I'm a big fan of prostitution, takes all the headaches out of things. It should be legalized!

Sorry elk, you are the one that is misinformed. I grew up hunting that area.  We owned a place there since I was 4.  Went out with my Dad and his friend who lived there for 70 years except when he was in the army.  I know most of the families in the town and know a lot of the landowners in the area.  I hunted there before there was Buckrun, hunted there while it was being debated and formed, and watched what that area became after it was formed.  I have had a few bad experiences personally, have had some decent conversations with others, but overall the stories you hear are true.  The number of quality bucks went up dramatically with Buckrun.  That is the only benefit he has provided to the community.  Hunting on Buckrun and hearing a one-sided story from the owner doesn't give you a full picture.
Dreams are forever on the mind, realization in the hands.
