Girlfriend gets her first muley and first rifle kill
« on: October 13, 2012, 04:18:20 PM »
well we headed to Idaho on tuesday for her hunt the weather was beautiful. Set up camp and noticed not as many people in the area. First morning we passed on 2 smaller bucks, she eventually shot one of them days later. We had 5 bucks come down in front of us 2 of them were 150-160 4x4 bucks..some idiot comes running up behind us and spooks them! and even admits that he saw us down below WTF! so i tell him we are going after them...so we head over and get on the bucks..the big one is at 100 yards! no way to get a shot..cant move the weeds are super crunchy...so we are trying everything we can to get a shot..I thought he was going to bed, but then fed off..got into position and lost sight of him in timber..ugh...so we head up and run into this clown AGAIN!! he knew exactly where we were going. Nextday we saw 0 deer till last light. The next morning we decided to hunt where the bucks were the night before and we see one of them walking in timber, but cant get a shot. We decide to keep going and head up and drop down and glass where this buck went..we get there and hear 2 shots and a guy driving up shot a buck right where we saw him!!  :bash:  We get to the rig at noon and was going to just head to camp since it was sunny and about 70 deg, but I decided to just drive up the road and turn around, just as we rounded a corner there is 4 bucks just standing below the road! I back up...get our gear and gun and have her sneak up the road..i spot them jst below and they are going to cross...the bigger one crosses first she couldnt get a shot they move up the hill. we fall back and head up and sneak over rise to see them a 100 yards away feeding...I get her positioned..tell her shoot buck on far left..boom! the buck drops! wrong one  :chuckle: she didnt care and was ecstatic her first rifle hunt and first muley..fun hunt and met some great people up there.

Nice job on a great hunt!  Excellent buck for the wrong one.  I'll bet she is hooked on mule deer hunting for good!  Way to go.

Very nice! General season? BTW did you know that in Idaho guiding your girlfriend to her fist deer is equal to a marriage proposal? Better at least get a ring.
