Cattlemen in Cowichie
« on: October 16, 2012, 09:48:45 AM »
I hunted muzzy elk in Cowichie for the whole season and talked with one of the cattlemen for a bit... He said he's seen wolf tracks on Dome Peak area and has talked to several Yakima natives (sometimes his cows cross over to their land) that have seen wolves on the res... I guess they cross back and forth from the res to the Dome Peak/Fall Creek areas.... Not sure how many... The cattlemen also told me that he seen a wolf bio up there and tried asking him questions about what was going on and pretty much got the cold shoulder and shunned.... Only one reason why a wolf bio would be up there... As of I talked to him he didn't know if any of his cattle were mia.... I know this is all hear say but a cattleman wouldn't lie about that....

Wouldn't suprise me one bit if they are in there. How did your season go? See many elk?

Dad and I filled our cows tags.... Got down to the wire on his.... Didn't see near as many elk as usual.... But others reported very well... Just wasn't our year for much excitement I guess...

I live in that area, a hand full of poeple have told me they've seen wolves in cowichie, bethel, nile and little naches, so I have no doubt that there are wolves there.

They are there. I know a few hardcore guys that spend a lot of time in that country. Both have run into the bio's up there. They won't say anything to the guys, but I guess they can do one mean wolf howl 8)
