New to area
« on: October 28, 2012, 02:26:29 PM »
Need some help from the season veterans in the area. I have just moved to the Northwest area. I have always hunted in the Midwest and South. Could use some help getting familiar with this area. I have purchased Western Elk tags, after finding out the best areas are on the eastern side, can someone point to some good areas around for Elk.

Get you some maps.. I would suggest the  Mt. St. Helens area, plenty of open ground to hunt, plenty of closed roads to hike in... lots of elk.

Good luck
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Yeah I have been looking over a lot of maps. I was told to go around the Olympic National Forest. How is that area?

I've deer hunted the last 3 weekends in the Coweeman unit, I've seen more elk then deer, after wasting early archery elk there in 80-90 degree temps then total closure of the unit due to fire danger I really wish I had a modern rifle tag for it now. Good luck.

Next year scout scout scout then put in for special permits for units with the best success.
