Skagit Goofyhorn Elk

Found this guy this morning while hiking around a friends' property. He was with two 4pts and two cows. I heard no bugles.

I think he looks pretty cool.  Be a great unusual looking mount.

Great pictures by the way.  The clarity is awesome!

My uncle took a 6x6 in Utah 2 years ago with a very similar "problem."
His left anlter was going out of the center of his forhead. I'll see if I have a pic on my computer....
It did make a unique mount!

Last year we had a similar bull around our place.  He was a big 5 point on one side and a spike on the other that was probably 5 feet long.  It had been poached a few days before season. My neighbor found the headless carcass on his back property line.  What a waste, it was really a cool rack to look at.  I guess someone else thought so as well.

I shot a bull with his horn coming out the front like that, didn't realize it meant his skull had been fractured.  Goofy looking, but good meat.

Impressive pics - I have heard theories that involve an injured animal will grow odd antlers.  it has proved true with a few bulls my hunting partners have taken over the last several years.  If an animal has an injury on the right side, the left side may grow somewhat out of the norm.  We figure one bull was hit by a car/truck and then started to develop hoof rot, and the other bull was shot but survived until the following season where another hunting partner took that bull.
Can't say if that is what happened in this case, but it does appear as someone previously mentioned to have a messed up skull plate.
Would definitely be a conversaion piece if it were hanging on your walll.
Again, nice pics

Does this bull show himself with the rest of that heard? I have not seen him before, but have only been around there 2 or 3 times this year.

No, you won't find this guy in the fields around Hwy 20 if that's what you're asking.

Awesome, clear pics.  I think dude has an inferiority complex because of his jacked up antler... better watch out..
