Deer hunting around Cle Elum?
« on: October 27, 2012, 02:14:50 PM »
So this story starts with my brother in law moving to cle elum, now my wife wants to move there as well. During early archery i stalked around a bit in the "development" he lives in up on the hill ,I saw three spike bulls and a s ton of turkeys, but not alot of deer sign. So I've got some questions,,, is there a decent population of mulies over there? Are they stright up mule deer or cross bucks? At the very least its 2 hours closer to the methow valley,  where i usually hunt deer, and it will be hard to leave a good union job i've had for 16 years so hopefully there are some job ops as well.  :dunno:

I grew up in Wenatchee. Moved to Universityplace. More money to be made here. I would love to move back. Eastern Washington is a much better quality of life. MY OPINION. You could always commute from Cle lum to work over here. There are lots of people who do it. My last contractor did. Also i have family in elk heights and they drive over every day. Yes there are deer to be hunted there. Lots of great country.

I wouldn't quit your job and move without securing a job over there. Economy is terrible every where and good paying jobs in eastern Washington are hard to come by.

Deer are plentiful, jobs not so much.

What trade are you in, construction is coming back a bit but nothing like 5 years ago.

There are great mulie bucks in and around cle elum. And I agree with you, the beautiful country makes me want to move there everytime we visit. My folks live there and the amount of wildlife is just awesome!

Yeah i agree, eastern wa. seems to a great way of life and i also agree, its hard to walk away froma "career" of so long. Mac, I am in the new construction biz i guess you could say, im a "skilled craftsman" at simpson door co. in mc cleary. So any pics of some Cle Elum bucks out there?? gotta be some pics floating around.

I've been living here for 10 years.  My biggest beef is people wandering around on posted private land without permission screwing up my hunts.
