Good luck late entiat tag holders!
« on: October 28, 2012, 05:49:18 PM »
Was up there today and wow the migration is in effect! Saw tons of deer a few bucks ( 8 days after the general is over) and had to chain up to get up high. A certain Mt.  looks like a highway all the migration trails thrue the snow some worn out to dirt in a foot of snow!  We did find some gut piles on the road, poachers, or natives, use your imagination!  My dad has a archery tag for the tail end of the season so we will be up there the next couple of weeks trying to find some bucks I have sheds fromlast year. The major issue I see is the burn WOW it was devistating to some good winter ground no food for miles, not good but the deer will find a surprise when they arrive.

Should be a great year for all the late tag holders.   Everyone going over...make sure you have four wheel drive and chains for all 4 or you may be in for a surprise.  Some of those roads can be down right scary when the snow and ice hit.  Good Luck

You should absolutely use your doe tag....for the exact reason that is stated.  The fire was devistating..yes, but there is still a lot of feed and deer will go where the feed is.  The ones that don't will suffer and possibly die.  Hunters should do their part and if you have a tag take a doe, you may actually stop a dieing deer that is otherwise going to waste feed you and your family.  Stick her deep and don't worry about the fire.

Definitely use that doe tag. When the Tyee fire hit, that year the WDFW did a emergency doe hunt and quite a few deer were taken somewhere in the 300 or so range.

What do you guys think about the chiwawa?  My son has the late deer tag and I have my fingers crossed for a big one.  Can there be to much snow?

Chiwawa is a great tag. I don't think u will have to worry about to much snow. Deer hang in the lower parts all winter long. Although it might make getting around tougher.

The Chiwawa hunt should be epic this year.....I have seen some bruisers and the weather is right.  Make sure you have chains for all 4.  Does he have the rifle or muzzy tag?

Too much snow can definately impact your hunt, making access very difficult in many areas.  Chains for all four is a must. :twocents:

:yeah: and be sure you get the OFF ROAD chains!!! Not the wimpy quick install highway chains! Les Schwab sells both kinds you just have to ask for the off road chains, trust me the difference is massive!
