the prob with just painted stencils is walk way from the boat. most will look one color from a distance. That is what a bird will see. You need to grass it to make it look real good. It causes shadows you can't get with paint. The old military blob pattern will break up your boat more. But it's all about the eye candy today.
Bird counts in signature are as gay as Elton John's fanny pack.

My pics were taken in full sun. In the clouds and rain it is very dark and disappears into the weeds.
The stencils are a light tan just like the weeds I hunt in, in the sun they look bright white.
