cruising bucks....

Curious..... Anyone have any good, knowledge on how far a very mature blacktail will travel during the rut from his "home"?

Also, will he just keep cruising till the ruts over then head home, or make a new home?

I ask because my wife just missed a very large 4x4 with eye guards and a drop (she was shooting a bow, and he ducked the arrow at 35 yards  ...), that I have never seen before.... I have 3 pigs that frequent my spot, but this dude is a new face...

I usually kill or she kills the bucks very close to where we scout them, but this dude has my heart roaring. He was hot on one of my does, and im scared he'll disappear when he's done.... Before late rifle or archery......

Don't know distances, but, unfortunately for you, he will probably return to his home range where he came from and is comfortable.  We see a few new faces behind the house this time of year, and then they vanish again when the rut is done.  They don't even come back to the apples they ate while here.

Damn....
I swear i will wear that place out till i know for sure..... We usually only shoot big bucks... Deer isnt our favorite meat, but when they're big, I tend to get real persistent...

I hope he's around... For me, my wife.... someone i know!
