Not a bunch of rifles out there yet.  Ammo has been available for a year, but no guns.  Friend of mine will be getting one soon.  Brass looks like a 22 K-hornet necked down to .17 cal.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Thanks all. I know the history, ballistics and properties of the .17 Hornet.  Just wondering about anyone that has had one in their hands. CZ is to offer the 527 in. 17 Hornet come Jan.

Savage was the original company to put out the gun for the .17 Hornet.  Ruger is also making their Model 77 in 17 Hornet.

Rifleridge's husband probably used a .17 HMR.  I've got 2 .17 HMRs, and a .17 Fireball, so the .17 Hornet would be redundant for me.  My .22 Hornet is neat, so the .17 Hornet should be a screamer!

I had a 17 AH Hornet and do have a 17 HH.  They are both for all practical purposes the same thing.  I think they are really not fast enough for a 17, but others may not agree.  I use a 17 Remington, that is fast enough.  A 17 Remington Fireball is good, but if you are going 17 cal why not just go with a really hot one and be done with it?  Larry
