Coyote Hunt in New Mexico being protested.

Amazes me how many freaks there are out there that would defend coyotes.  Give me a break.

What are your thoughts on this story?

I wish it was closer....I'd go hunt it.

Bunch of hippies there...the culture clashes are inevitable.  NM reminded me of WA a lot--lots of good country folk spread around the state, but two towns (albuquerque and santa fe) of hippy-yuppies are dictating city dreams on the whole state.

The problem is the average non hunter sees a coyote as a wild version of their pet dog, they see images of them cutely pouncing on mice and eating gophers.  And in some ways at some times this vision is pretty accurate however the other side of coyotes is the creature that will lure small dogs away and kill them thus a cannibalism of sorts that even the most anti would be disgusted by if they saw it first hand, nature is cruel and ruthless but humanity in this country has been so far removed from its role as a part of nature that we have these issues now.

I once thought coyote killers/hunters were big jerks and obviously just killed for thrills how could a little coyote pose any real threat?  Then I saw with my own eyes coyotes trying to lure dogs, and coyotes killing lambs, and decimating birds and my thoughts on the innocence of coyotes changed.  I still preferred to let my dog deal with them however now I will hunt them.

A little side note, it is illegal to spaecifficly hunt coyotes on state land in NM all the time.  In NM the game commission pays the state from license sales for the right to hunt on state land.  Coyotes are unprotected so there is no fee payed to the state.  If you have a furtakers license you can take a coyote incedental to hunting bobcats or take a coyote incedental to quail hunting or deer hunting with a small game or big game license..  You can not hunt coyotes as a spaciffic quary on state land..

I  went to NM last winter to hunt coyotes and had a great time, you can hunt on BLM(lots of it), national forest and private land.  I set up a couple of times right outside State land and called coyotes out of it.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

There's a poll on the TV station the coyote hunters are slightly ahead

The poll is about half way down the screen on the left.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/mexico-coyote-hunting-contest-sparks-protests-17741522
I think it's the same story I posted a couple days ago but ok
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
